Custom Shade Structures

Case Study 1

This was a joint venture project with Aridscape Landscape with an out of state customer. Correspondence was primarily e-mail. This project was a modification the customer was supplied from his homebuilder. Scope of project was reduced do to budgetary reasons.

The clients had very definite concepts for the project. They specified their desire to quadruple the existing patio area and build a walk deck with a spiral staircase leading up to it. They also requested gas heat as well as electrically controlled shades on 3 open sides of the structure. Since the gas space heaters would be connected into the home’s natural gas lines, careful planning for exact placement in the new space was critical since the heaters would not be mobile. Our designers took into account how the space would be used, how heat would spread evenly over the space, and above all, how the final layout looked.  In addition, an existing 10-foot fireplace and built-in barbeque existed that had to be built around and integrated into the final design.

After the design was finalized, plans were submitted to the city. After several months of hold ups at city planning, our diligence paid off and we got approval to build. We coordinated with our landscape and roller shade companies to smoothly complete this addition on-budget and on-time.
